My brother in law has met a wonderful young woman and they are set to get married in March! I had the opportunity to meet up with them for their engagement photos just over a week ago! Here are a few of my favorites! I have also posted just two of my favorites from Bethany and Jeremy's wedding.

An Incredibly Tough Decision ...

As many of you know, I have 4 very young children who are very close in age. Just how close...9 months between the first two, 14 months between the next one, and 15 months between the last two. Yes you read that correctly there is not even a 2 year gap between all three of my older children. Oh and did I mention that the oldest is only 5? As you can imagine or may even know things around here can get pretty hectic and simply ridiculous at times.

Just over two years ago I took a huge leap of faith and opened my own photography business. I have loved it as it provides me with an opportunity to get out of the house and let my creativity flow. Not to mention the amazing moments that I have been involved in and the incredible people that I have the chance to meet. However, so much is going on at home from just the everyday upkeep to trying to get two kiddos ready to start kindergarten, to potty training, and so on and so on that I strongly feel that something has to give. I absolutely LOVE photography and am truly going to miss it. However, I have waited to be a mother for so long and this dream is here and is now. I do not want to regret anything in life especially when it comes to raising my children. I love them so dearly and the time is just flying by.

So I have prayed about this decision and feel that I need to let the photography go. It is so time consuming from the shoot which usually takes about 4 hours including all the preparing, driving, and the shoot itself. And then there is editing. Oh my how that can go on and on. I haven't even mentioned the "business" aspect of it all. Don't get me wrong it is all a beautiful thing but there truly is a time and a place for everything including talents and/or hobbies. Right now my time should be and needs to be devoted to my beautiful family.

Thank you all so much for your trust and support. This decision has not been an easy one but I know it is for the best right now for me and my family.

Last Friday night I had the opportunity to fill in for a fellow photographer. I had a blast photographing the football game over at Agua Fria. It was an exciting game and they pulled off a victory! Oh how this brought me back to "the good old days" of sports and being an athlete. I miss it so much...the relationships, the victories, the workouts, the competitiveness of it all, and so much more.

So I am wanting to set up a little photographer's club here on the West Side. I have already spoken with a couple of people who are interested. If you are or know anyone who may be interested please let me know! Basically what I am wanting to do is get together either quarterly or bi-monthly to discuss photography topics. Also I want to make sure that we incorporate shooting during these meetings. So I am hoping to have models at each meeting for us to practice different techniques, ideas, and locations. I know that every photographer has his or her own style of photography and is a wealth of information. It is so much fun to get to know what other photographers use, what they've tried and loved (or not loved). Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Some Fun New Toys!

When I started my photography business I knew that there would be a ton of fun toys and gadgets to get. Things like oh numerous lenses, various software programs, new computers, etc. Well, I have been incredibly busy this season and I have been able to purchase some fun new toys that will totally enhance the business and photographs!

What are these fun toys? Well shall we start with a new laptop! Or the bran spankin' new Photoshop CS4! Another one that all of you who own a business will really appreciate is Quickbooks. (I was a little bit hesitant on this program because I was keeping track of all of the business stuff pretty well, but let me just tell you how wonderful this program is. Everything is in one place.)

Anyhow, thank you all so much for your support and making this dream of mine to own my own photography business possible!

This was by far one of the best "car jobs" I've ever seen! Apparently, Kathy loves s'mores. So her lovely boys decided to get chocolate syrup, rice cereal, and marshmallows. As you can see from the picture below...they even got the door handles! :)

The BIG Trip to the MTC

Okay, so my reason for going to Utah was not to see friends. We were taking my sister to the MTC. She reported on December 12th. It was such an emotional day. I am so grateful for the precious time that I got to spend with her prior to her departing. I miss her dearly, but I know that she has been called of God and is doing what she needs to do. I sure hope the next 18 months go by quick! :)
